It's a joke about lube - now I'm spitting on your intelligence by explaining it to you but that's enough working the titular saliva into this review although this really is my 1st rape/revenge movie| I've been working slow-motion to put other projects into (slow-)motion and I can't quite reconcile personal & business endeavors...then I saw a movie| I took a gamble on this feature because I'm not much into rape or revenge stories - I believe the former requires no explanation but the latter is because movies with an element of giving the hero revenge either in high or small part never allow tha hero to remain as such and tend to imply tha hero is now tha villain or at least tha best movies have a tendency to end on that unneeded thread| This movie is no exception| This really was my very 1st foray into the rape/revenge sub-genre so I had no idea what should or not be expected(aside from the obviously obvious captain)and I wasn't sure I liked it but I was sure I had to talk about it; so sure I had to that I'm willing to throw off what I laughingly refer to as my excuse for a schedule|

Well from beginning to end tha movie only exists(DUH)within tha context of tha movie - which is to say - tha movie has kinda already started without really establishing any character or exactly why(save 4 later)she is already on her way to this location but they do imply she is a writer and writers do often "get away from it all" to engage their creativity| She also resorts to more "medicinal" measures as well that "pay" off later| Tha movie even shows how little it cares beyond its key events tha way tha main character, Jennifer Hill portrayed by Sarah Maid(-Butler), has tha title casually flash next to her head for a few secs then goes away OR it's meant to indicate I(as in she)will spit on your grave(as in will be tha victim that ultimately seeks vengeance)in tha feature to come| We don't see her do alot of writing but we do get to see her getting used to her rather primitive/modest surroundings and several minor ticks(especially when compared to what the actual plot has in store)go wrong for her and I couldn't tell if this was meant to be comic relief before "tha plot" happens to her and she loses the full extent of her innocence| This may also lead you to question how she seemingly so easily manages to set up everything she needs to 1ce you've seen how easily she messes up more mundane tasks that admittedly occur because she feels as if she's being watched is the implication in those scenes|

Tha movie itself seems to take great joy in "teasing" the audience "will they/won't they-style" when it comes to the rape we were all prepped & ready to go through to lead into the climactic revenge sequence which I'm not entirely sure is par for tha course in rape/revenge features| This also leads to another segment wherein we are lead to somewhat sympathize with a law enforcement official before he is taken out tha movie| At 1 point the main antagonist forces her to do something so stupid & tonally off-putting when mixed with her crying that the 2 displays couldn't reconcile their differences and I uh...I had to - uh...I had to pause tha movie and die of laughter at how ridiculous it all looked & sounded together so I could properly watch tha rest of tha movie| This kinda leads into tha 1 of quite a few ways they methodically/psychologically torture her before the entire thing I mentioned about "teasing" the audience| Tha scene we have wherein her psyche snaps & she truly escapes plays more like an ascension to a higher/alternate state of being...or tha makings of a superhero origin if you're more like me - ahem|

What I have to say here may sound like...whatever but this movie(among other features)is very insulting...to men actually - boiling each 1 that exists in this movie down to tha most basic/primitive/tribalistic motivations & desires with no redeeming qualities whatsoever even going as far as to treat her like dirt in ways that aren't even predicated on sexual desire| I realize that is tantamount to complaining how negatively white people are typically portrayed in period pieces and/or how non-whites are treated therein(if there at all)or that this movie dared to feature a rape scene but it's how I feel about these features other than just this one that have male characters engaging this mentality to some degree or other| So I suppose mentioning that she(Jennifer Hill)really is raped isn't much of a surprise/spoiler either| After which they kept teasing is it over & keeps going a few times then tha movie(again not sure if this is standard)switches and now it becomes a sub genre that was quite popular - torture-porn| As for the rape itself, I suppose I was too mentally prepared for its inevitability that it wasn't as shocking to me as it should have been| This section of tha movie has elements of : sta.sh/02fhnqle4hdf : 1st & 4most but it also touches on : sta.sh/0ycvtdoyzuj : a considerable amount(she even looks like Sadako Yamamura at 1 point)before trapping a few of em| Those features were a "HARD-R" as well and really can't recommend this'n here(obviously now)if'n them ones made yall tha least bit uneasy or what have ya|

SPOILER ZONE - I SERIOUSLY MAY NOT DO A FULL-ON SPOILER-REVIEW AT ALL BUT THA FOLLOWING IS STUFF I FEEL SHOULD ALSO BE MENTIONED AND SOME IS MILDLY SPOILERISH THOUGH NOTHING TOO HEAVY
I realize this movie is a remake/boot of another notorious feature(of tha same name a.k.a. Day of the Woman)noted as being among the original video nasties - movies so deplorable that governments couldn't help but "save" everyone from their deplorability| That movie's "sequences" also don't hold a candle to this'n although this movie is far more vile it's also presented cleanly so the original's retro-level sorta(4 lack of a better word)dirtiness does add a level of grittiness to its proceedings that might do it 4-U| This is personal opinion(most of every review EVER is really)that movie's overall characterization of Jennifer Hill does better than this I feel but this Jenny post-molestation is more preferable if that makes sense|

There is a character in this movie(also in the original)that reminds me of Forrest Gump when they attack(this movie's)Jenny except he's not as "reliable" as the owner of Bubba-Gump Shrimp| This character in the original is closer to Lewis Tulley before as well as after becoming Vinz Clortho but mostly as he's crushing on Dana Barrett| She does make tha mistake of kissing this guy when he fixes her plumbing amongst her sporadic relief to have it fixed for whatever reason it's THAT important to her| He's a supermarket delivery "specialist" in the original| This kiss mildly leads to the sequence wherein the villains decide to do what they do| There's also a sequence wherein said law enforcement official I mentioned earlier is walking around her crib and you may get tha sense like I did that they're allowing us to notice just how LOOONG tha barrel of his shotgun is....yeah|

Tha scene wherein we are related her psychological shift...is done with her falling backwards into a river(before they can blow her away)whilst affecting the classic superhero trope of doing a "Jesus on tha Cross" pose ~slow motion~ which is really why I said what I said about it| It's also quite easy to miss but some scenes where she goes investigating if "something" is there she ends up finding several things & places she uses later on establishing how she came about it so our minds aren't so bogged down by "Where'd she suddenly get that/How'd she just so happen to find that" syndrome that we can't see tha sequences 4 what they are|
